Armstrong All Stars Watch Another Man Lost in Space!

Movie review by Khalil Lomax, Bre’Ann Murphy, Clifton White, Madison Payne, Allyson Espinoza, Dylan Mack, Tristen Mingo, Roland Bell.

On March 9, 2024, the Armstrong All Stars watched “The Martian'', a movie that was released in 2015. While watching we all had mixed reviews about the movie which is about an astronaut, Mark Watney who was left by his crew on Mars by accident during a severe storm and had to figure out how to survive by using his resources. The resources he used included his own excrement, making his own machine to produce his own rain and fixing a NASA communicator, a way t0 talk to people on earth.

We rate this movie 5/10 because it was entertaining at first but as it went on it got boring. In the beginning it hooked us because there was a lot of suspense during the storm when the crew left Watney behind thinking he was dead. But he actually was alive and after sulking he got up and started to thrive.  Then it started to get boring watching him go to places that we already saw but got interesting again when all his hard work was ruined when his base went up in flames as well as seeing NASA go back and forth, deciding on what to do—either get him back now or help him stay alive till their next project. It was funny at times when he had to use crazy outcomes to survive and what got us back interested in the movie was all that went on at the end of the movie when they rescued Mark Watney from Mars.

Bre’Ann Murphy and Clifton White.

I rate this movie a 6.5/10. I say this because the beginning of the movie jumped straight to the point and showed us the Mars storm but if I was the director I would have made the screen black with a 10-1 countdown. Then after the countdown I would have shown the storm. During the movie Watney did some smart things such as using his excrement to grow crops. But he also did some stupid things such as popping a hole into his spacesuit while in an open spaceship. So my opinion is that in the end the movie was overall good but it could have been better.

Khalil Lomax

In conclusion, this movie had a lot of ups and downs that get you hooked but also disappoint. We would recommend this movie to other people because it gives you a real feel about life in Mars. It can be found on Amazon prime at https://www.amazon.com/
