November 5th and 6th, 2012. WASHINGTON DC. Students from Collegiate, Southeast, Blow Pierce, Woodridge and Chamberlain participated in the FNN 2012 Mock Presidential Election between Jasmine Suzukie and Kaylynn California — also known as Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. The total vote count was 2,423. I, "Jasmine Suzukie" received 443 votes and "Kaylynn California" received 1,980 votes. Kids from 4th through 12th grades voted for the two candidates — actually me, Ny'Jah Warren and Angelique Dove. I pretended to be Mitt Romney while Angelique was Barack Obama.
We decided to create a mock election to compare the actual results of the real election to the results at school.
This is how it worked. Both mock candidates made videos on some of the key issues the President and Mitt Romney had spoken on. We posted them online at ourfnn.com/vote and had Friendship students vote without knowing who represented Romney and who represented Obama.
This mock election resulted in Kaylynn California winning—but Jasmine Suzukie also received a large number of votes. I think Jasmine Suzukie received many votes because there are more kids in our area who are for Mitt Romney than we may have thought. Or, it’s possible that many were just fooling around. All I know is that I didn’t expect for “Jasmine Suzuki” aka Mitt Romney to get any votes at all!

NyJah Warren and DeWayne Graham are freshmen and Stephanie Spencer is a sophomore at Friendship Collegiate Academy.
