FEB. 16, 2018: February 7th, 2018 was a very special day here at Friendship Collegiate Academy. Today marks our annual signing day. For those of you who don’t know, signing day is when our 2018 senior class football players make one of the biggest decisions of their lives...where to attend college. This was the day that they signed their acceptance letters from the college of their choice. The players were accompanied by our CEO Patricia Brantley, our founder Donald Hense, news channels, friends, family, and fellow Collegiate athletes who were there to support and promote their fellow athletes.

Friendship´s athletic program has always been known to provide multitudinous opportunities for our young student-athletes including scholarships, and these young men had a few choices to pick from today.

Signing Day is known to be a very emotional day for our seniors and their families. Last year all, if not most, started to cry while giving their speech. This year, however, not many tears were shed. As I sat in the bleachers with the other Beach Boyz, one young man said: “Real men cry, but others saw them as soft if they cried.” When I spoke with Coach White, he said, ¨Today is such an emotional day because of the opportunity for our players to beat the odds that face a stereotypical black man.”

Signing Day 2018 has to be one for the books! This year, we had our first First Lady Knight (cheerleader), to sign and be on the stage with the boys.
