Holidays in December

JAN. 23, 2020: When I think about holidays in December, I think about Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and people’s birthdays that I know. That’s not even a fourth of holidays celebrated in December according to Google. According to Google, there are 74 holidays in December. Wow, that is more holidays than days in December! Personally, me and my family only celebrate Christmas in December.
Christmas is a religious holiday celebrated by Christians on December 25 every year. This holiday is the day set aside for Christians to acknowledge the birth of Jesus.
Before December 25, families decorate the inside and outside of their homes with holiday decor and festive lights. Some people put up and decorate Christmas trees that will later have gifts beneath the tree for family and friends. Many people go shopping for gifts and cards for family and friends. Others create and decorate gingerbread houses, drink eggnog, take holiday pictures, and sing holiday carols.
On Christmas Day, children are usually the first people to wake excited to see what they got for Christmas. Sometimes family members come together for gift exchanges, family meals, socials, or even go to church.
However you celebrated in December, enjoy! The new year is here.
Happy New Year!
