Make Way for the Friendship Tech Prep 2020 Teacher of the Year

APR. 10, 2020: At Friendship Tech Prep Academy, we have extraordinary teachers. I’d like to tell you about one of our teachers who is this school year’s Tech Prep Teacher of the Year, Ms. Brittney Lot who is our 10th grade, geometry teacher. She always ensures that her scholars are not only successful in her class but will be successful in their future. I am beyond blessed to have had Ms. Lott as a teacher since 6th grade. Even though I don’t have Ms. Lott as a teacher at this very moment, she continues to monitor and help with my academic success. 

One thing that I have realized about Ms. Lott since DAY 1, is that she doesn’t play about students receiving a well-rounded education. She always makes sure that every scholar who steps foot in her room will “be the best because she instills the best”. 

Tenth grade scholar, La’Toya Harper stated: “Ms. Lott connects with her students and finds different ways to help us better understand the work that we are given”. 

During the summer of 2019, I had a conversation with 10th grade scholar DeJuan Eddy about the Tech Prep 10th grade boot camp. He stated, “I’m going to ensure that I will go so that I am able to show Ms. Lott while she is preparing 10th grade for geometry that I am a great student because I know she looks for the best in her students”. 

On Saturday, April 4, 2020, we hosted a surprise virtual Teacher of the Year Celebration for Ms. Lott. During the virtual Teacher of the Year celebration staff members, parents, and students were able to express their gratitude and congratulate Ms. Lott on this major accomplishment. A few teachers chose one word or phrase to describe Ms. Lott. The words were authentic, limitless, relentless, diligent, passionate, dedicated, accountable, consistent, bomb, and role model. All of these words and phrases describe Ms. Lott perfectly. Ms. Lott is an example of what it means to be “Built by Grit and Driven by Innovation”. 

Everyone is so proud of Ms. Lott and we can’t wait to see if she will be announced as the 2019 - 2020 SY, even though we already know she is. Congratulations Ms. Lott!
