Beyoncé’s “Beychella” Performance

APRIL 27, 2018: This past weekend one of the biggest concerts of the year was held in California, the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Over five million viewers tuned in to watch the live performance of Beyoncé. She is the first black woman to headline the music festival. She clearly took over the concert and now they are calling it “Beychella” because there is no doubt that she stole the entire show with her opening act!

Beyoncé paid homage to HBCU’s (historically black colleges and universities) culture with a full marching band, Greek step show, and she put her own little twist on a signature sorority step that had the crowd on their feet screaming throughout the performance.

Beyoncé not only rocked our world with her entertaining performance but is also doing an amazing job giving back to the community. She just announced at Coachella that she is donating $100K to four HBCUs! According to the New York Times, through her BeyGood Scholarship Initiative, Beyoncé plans to give at least 25K to Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, Tuskegee University located in Tuskegee, Alabama, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Wilberforce University in Ohio. This is fantastic news for these four small universities!  Beyoncé has immense talent and is undeniably one of the best female artists of all time!
