APRIL 26, 2018: Do you like to dance? Well did you know that when you dance you’re not only having fun but also getting fit? IT’S TRUE! A popular movement activity at our school is the dance game called “Just Dance”. We use this activity to help us get our jiggles out before we start learning. Most students dance to have a good time, but dancing is also a great way to help you stay fit!
Dancing can help you stay fit. Participating in a Just Dance movement activity for 30 minutes a day can help you burn 200 calories. Different dances can help you stay fit too, not just the ones that we find on Just Dance. According to Ms. Piper, the Theatre Arts teacher at Friendship Chamberlain, the types of dance that aid in achieving overall fitness are African dance, Latin dance, Zumba, and Hip Hop. These types of dances (and more) can help you have a great time dancing and get or stay fit at the same time!
You can see that dancing is a great exercise and allows you to have fun and help burn calories. Dancing is something fun that you could do anywhere, anytime…at home or at school!
Emani Armstrong and Angel O’Neal are 3rd grade scholars at Friendship Chamberlain Academy. Warren McKenzie is a 4th grade scholar at Friendship Chamberlain Academy.
