Fading Color, an FNN Documentary Film
Story and photo by Tanai Green.
On October 27, 2022, the documentary film Fading Color: How Gentrification Changed Chocolate City premiered at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. It was an honor to be invited to the event and have a chance to watch the documentary. Fading Color was produced by the Friendship News Network Collegiate bureau. It is about gentrification and how it affects the black community in DC, known to locals as “chocolate city.”
The documentary was astonishing, and opened my eyes to gentrification in the city. I loved how they simplified and highlighted gentrification in such a way that I could see it from every aspect. If you’d like to watch, you can view the documentary here.
