FCA Basketball Cinderella Story

JUNE 10, 2016: As the underdogs of the season, no one expected Friendship Collegiate varsity boys basketball team to make it. After starting the season with eight straight losses, they were not expected to make it to the playoffs. On January 14, 2016, that all changed. A blowout win against Washington Latin Public Charter School (62-22) marked the beginning of a playoff run. The following game was an away non-conference game against Cardozo high school. The outcome was 50-72. Collegiate was on the losing end.
That was Friendship’s final loss of the season. They soon went on a winning streak until the playoffs. Alani Moore, who pledged to play for Temple University next fall, led the team to the DCSAA playoffs. When Collegiate played at the Verizon Center against HD Woodson, the undefeated Warriors, Alani Moore and Keon Queen put up a great offense. But long story short, the Friendship Knights fell to the H.D Woodson Warriors 47-60.
The journey that the Knights had was stunning, amazing and persistent as the they made it to the DCSAA Championship. We wish Alani Moore a great long career at Temple and the same for the other Knights as well.
