On November 15th, 2023, Friendship Collegiate Academy celebrated the grand opening of its Raytheon Classroom. This is where our ESports team, who are currently 14-1 in their league, will compete.

I spoke with the CEO of Friendship Public Charter Schools, Patricia Branley, about the event, “My favorite part of today was seeing the students being able to be in this space, and watching students as they heard from the engineer from Raytheon about his career path and what they should consider as they think about their next steps into adulthood.”

I also spoke with ESport Coach, Mr. Kelso about what this program means to him, “ESports means to me an avenue for kids to express themselves if they don't find enjoyment in most things, like football or basketball, but they love playing video games and they excel at it. They should be more than able to go to college for it. There should be more opportunities to enjoy things in a safe way.”

I like the ESports room as a place for kids to express themselves through video games, and I also feel like the ESports room is a safe place for us. Hopefully these students are inspired to continue following their dreams.
