Gun Violence in America

On November 1, 2022,  Rapper Takeoff from the Hip-Hop group Migo was shot and killed at 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, Texas. In 2022, there have been 20,138 firearm deaths, excluding suicides, in the United States.

The solution to this problem is the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021 (H.R. 1808 & S. 736). According to the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, this and other assault rifle bans can save lives and keep people safe. Nine states, including DC, have the assault weapon bans, but are vulnerable to neighboring states with weaker gun laws.

If the Senate doesn’t pass a federal assault weapon ban, the consequence will negatively affect the nation. If the law is passed, then more lives will be saved.
