On February 23,2023, the Lady Knights reached one of their goals, winning the charter league championship against KIPP DC. In the championship game, the Lady Knights came out the gate with energy on the defensive end with multiple stops, running plays, and teamwork. At some moments it was trial and error, but overall they got the job done. This is year sixteen of the Lady Knights winning the charter league championship, but the Lady Knights weren’t finished just yet, because they were mainly focused on making it to the state championship.

The Lady Knights were put to the test when they went up against Georgetown Visitation. Unfortunately in the end, they took a loss and just like that the season was over for the Lady Knights. The team, which consisted of two freshmen, two sophomores, two juniors, and seven seniors had an overall winning season record of 22-7. Some noticeable wins were against CMIT, NCA,Collegiate-level Friendship Tech Prep and Jackson-Reed.

Despite their successful season, the Lady Knights still faced some challenges. Senior Amenah Kitchens was out with a pelvis injury for almost a month. The freshman injured her finger and couldn't play for at least one week.

Congratulations Lady Knights on all your hard work and success this season! We wish seniors Amenah Kitchens, Damaya Smart, Zakiyyah Brown, Monae Herman, Ajayla Beach, Dominique Jackson, and Breanna Mallory good luck as they graduate. Also, a big thank you to Coach Steff, Coach Pat, Coach Jay, and Coach Wayne for fighting through the season with the Lady Knights and helping them stay motivated.

Amenah Kitchens and Benji Mallory are seniors at Friendship Collegiate Academy.
