JULY 27, 2017: On June 25th, BET showed off what is said to be “The Livest Award Show on T.V”, the 2017 BET Awards hosted by Leslie Jones. The BET Awards were always known to be crazy, fun and entertaining, and this year they did not disappoint. This year’s show was filled with amazing moments, and I am here to recap all of the excitement.

The show was jam-packed with great live performances from a variety of artists including, Bruno Mars, Migos, Chris Brown, Post Malone, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Big Sean and many more. But perhaps the biggest performance of the night came from the cast of “The New Edition Story” who sang some of New Edition’s hits. The performance was given to highlight the group winning the Lifetime Achievement award. The younger and older group members sang Candy Girl, Sensitivity, My My My, and Poison. And the members of New Edition got up on stage and performed Mr.Telephone Man, Can You and Stand the Rain. And to top it all off, all three versions of the group performed together singing If it Isn’t Love.

It wouldn't be an awards show without the actual awards, and BET made sure they had many awards to give to some amazing people. Awardees included Bruno Mars for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and his music video for 24K Magic; Remy Ma for Best Female Hip Hop Artist; Kendrick Lamar for Best Male Hip Hop Artist; Migos for Best Group; Chance the Rapper for Best New Artist and Humanitarian; and of course, New Edition with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

In my opinion, this year’s BET Awards was definitely one to remember. The performances were great with Bruno Mars, Migos, and New Edition being my favorites. And to top it off, Leslie Jones made a great host. She was funny, enthusiastic, and just straight up crazy. So if you didn't check out the Awards, turn on your TV, turn to BET, see if you can catch any reruns, or just go to BET’s website.
