School Lunch Can Be Better, But It’s Not All Bad And I Can Help Make It Better

APR. 29, 2020: School lunch at my school is good on some days and other days I wish I would have packed my own lunch. My favorite school lunch meal is pizza, grapes, and salad. This meal is tasty and similar to what I would eat outside of school.

The worst school lunch is a meatball sub with carrots, and oranges. On days the cafeteria serves meals like this I just eat the fruit and drink the milk.

Not having a good lunch is just as bad as missing breakfast because you don’t have the nutrients your body needs to be productive. When I eat a good lunch I’m able to focus and participate in class, but when I don’t have a good lunch, I’m usually frustrated and not able to focus in class.

To fix this problem school lunch calendars should match exactly what we’re going to eat that day so students like me know when to bring their own lunch. But, this is problematic for students whose families cannot afford to pack lunch for their children. So, maybe cafeteria staff should go to cooking school or ask students to help make lunch menus. Something else that could help this issue is a school store where students can use LiveSchool points to make snack purchases.

School lunch isn’t the best, but it’s not all bad either. With a few changes and collaboration, students can have more positive experiences with school lunch. We could make the school lunch better by donating money to the school so they can buy new things for the kids at school to eat. Another way the school lunch can get better might be to ask parents if they could cook lunch for the kids.
