On November 29th, 2023, Friendship Southeast Academy played its first women’s basketball game, and I was one of the players on this team. The stands were filled with lots of people to watch us, which made me nervous on the sidelines. I relaxed a little when the other team arrived and their girls also looked frightened. ‘Maybe they just started as well,’ I thought to myself.
Next thing you know, everything started moving fast. Our team was in a 2-3 formation on defense, the ball was flying, and baskets were being made. Everybody on our team was making shots, which we call buckets! The twins, Alanna #2 and Alaina #22, were on fire!! They played their best game.
Our opponents were heated and upset during the second quarter. After half time, we returned to the game and made more and more shots. The crowd was going crazy! The other team put up a good fight, but we didn't mind, it’s our house.
As the fourth quarter began, we continued to work as a team. Meniah, #4, made the very last shot as the buzzer went off and we won the game, 23-0! What a great way to end a historic first game. We’re looking forward to more games and a fun season.
