On Thursday, September 8th, and Friday and September 9th, 2022, student government elections took place at Friendship Collegiate Academy. On Thursday, candidates read their speeches to gain voter confidence. On Friday, voting took place after only a week of campaigning.

The results solidified Jade Mosby as President, Monae Herman as Vice President, Makayla Battle as Mayor, Diovanni Kelly as Treasurer, Neveah Costello and Nakkia Wells as STEM Representatives, Ra’Kiya Richmond as Fine Arts Representatives, Dakota Fauntroy as 9th Grade Representative, and Jordan Rouse and Braylon Wims as Executive Council Members.

Speech presentations and voting took place over two days, and while these events went well, there could be some improvement. In the future, debates should take place to let candidates voice their opinion on why they are running and what changes they are going to make. And campaigning should last a month or two in order to give candidates the time they need to compose a speech and gather information on what they want to advocate for.
