FEB. 3, 2020: Most people have used or heard of the video-sharing app TikTok, which is very popular amongst children. It is derived from the app Musical.ly, an app that was first released in August 2014. The original app was mainly used for dancing and lip-syncing. However, after it’s transition into TikTok in 2018, a lot of the app’s content changed.
Since the app’s transition, it has substantially broadened its horizons as far as the entertainment it provides. But it’s not all entertainment. Lately, TikTokers, especially teens, have been using the app to communicate by making videos about their issues to help others understand what they might be going through. According to Newsela, most of these videos are met with the support of others who have gone through the same things or are trying to offer love and support.
Whether or not you think that TikTok is a good app, you must admit that TikTok has become very useful to help the youth of today express themselves.
