Virtual Explorers Of The New Smithsonian Museum

On September 24, 2016, The National Museum Of African American History and Culture opened. It is located at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW. There you will find almost 40,000 artifacts in the museum that highlight history, culture and community.
This fall, FNN Chamberlain took a virtual trip to the museum since it is very difficult to get tickets at this time and we could not wait to see what was inside. We found a collection of stories about people’s history including Olympic medals and many other magnificent historical artifacts.
On our virtual tour, we explored many artifacts. Some of our favorite artifacts included education, fashion, sports and the military.
Here are our top four favorites we suggest you check out: a Rosa Parks dress, a Gabby Douglas Leotard, an En Vogue dress and flight suit from Charles F. Bolden
This dress was sewn by Rosa Parks. She was a woman of many talents.
These beautiful dresses were worn by En Vogue for the My Love You're Never Gonna Get It video.
Gabby Douglas, a famous gymnastics Olympian wore this leotard for the Olympics in 2003.
This flight suit was worn by Charles F. Bolden during his first spaceflight. This suit inspired us and is a reminder of all the African Americans who had a positive impact on society.
Our final stop during our virtual visit was the Sweet Home Cafe. As we explored each floor of the museum we discovered that there is a Cafe called the Sweet Home Cafe. If we could go to the Sweet Home Cafe, we would like to try the sweet pumpkin spice cupcake and the natural barbecue chicken with Alabama sauce.
The African American Museum of History and Culture offers so many things we look forward to when we finally visit. It is wonderful because it has so many things to see that it is impossible to see the entire museum in one visit.
