Around Christmas, many people decorate their houses with Christmas trees, colorful lights and ornaments, mistletoe, as well as hang wreaths on the door. Have you ever wondered why people do these things? Read this article to find out!

The Elf on the Shelf is an elf that kids can not touch or else it loses its power. It is always watching and listening to make sure that kids are not being naughty. At night it flies off to Santa and tells him how your day was and Santa decides if you deserve presents or not. The elf

reappears the next morning and starts all over again. I think that the Elf on the Shelf helps make sure kids are being good.

If you walk around at Christmas time, you will see houses with Christmas lights. They make the houses look so nice that you wonder what is going on inside. People even put candles in their windows so that their loved ones can find their way home. The evergreen fir tree is the tree people usually use in their homes. People started using branches from this tree to decorate their homes because it reminded them that Spring was coming. Adding colorful lights and lots of shiny decorations makes it really pretty and nice to look at.

We give presents at Christmas because people brought presents to Jesus when He was born. Now, we show our love by exchanging gifts with the people that we care about.
