MAY 4, 2021: Do you think about a great getaway? What about a fantastic adventure to a far-off place with incredibly exotic animals and scenery? We know the perfect place--the Galapagos Islands. They are located just 1,000km off the coast of Ecuador and known for fearless wildlife, beautiful plants, and outdoor viewing. Galapagos is an extraordinary archipelago far out in the ocean. The islands have only iguanas, tortoises, lava lizards, geckos, and snakes. If you are into these types of species, then let me tell you more. There is no other place on earth with no invasive species like the Galapagos Islands.

This remote group of islands was isolated for so long that the wildlife never developed a fear of humans. Charles Darwin, a naturalist, biologist, and geologist, who is best known for his contributions to the science of evolution, or the ways we understand the natural world, calls this place extraordinary. Darwin found that the birds and wildlife in Galapagos were unique and different from any other species he had ever come into contact with within his lifetime. This discovery led him to the theory of evolution.

This place is unique because it isolates the islands and as a result, the animals are not afraid of people. Yes, that is correct! Can you believe this? The animals are just as curious about people as we are about them. Tourists can see green sea turtles often mating in shallow waters, giant tortoise eggs being hatched, and Albatrosses big enough to fly!

The giant tortoise is a must-see, and its name best describes everything about this remarkable animal. It has round, dome-like, and saddle-shaped shells. The giant tortoise gave the island the name “Galapagos,” which is Spanish for a saddle-type because of its saddle-shaped shells.

If you want to experience the beauty of the rich blue seas, majestic mountains, and exotic wildlife, look no further. These enchanted islands are just the place to visit to celebrate life at one of the most beautiful places in the world!
