Broken Lenses
Story and photo by Quinton Olfus.
When it's time to transition to class, or if you go near the lunchroom and the office, there are cameras in every corner.
To me, it seems like these cameras are for show! These cameras have been there for years, but they don't catch people running, playing or fighting like they should.
For example, one day a boy was running in the hall where the cameras are near the lunch room, and he did not get in trouble. Also, two of my classmates were fighting in a different hallway, and instead of checking the cameras, security asked us, the students, who was at fault and what happened. We were all thinking, do the cameras not work? Do they serve a purpose?
In my opinion, I think the cameras need to be used more. If somebody is fighting, and the camera did not catch it, kids are not safe. At our school, we need cameras that work and are used. Having cameras that work helps schools be safer.
