MARCH 20, 2017: Friendship Chamberlain Academy honored Black History Month with an epic performance on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 6:00 pm. The performance was entertaining. There were a Chamberlain Dance Team, talented singers, and two lively announcers.
The show opened with two eighth grade announcers, Stephon Robinson and Kimoni Pitts, who started off with a small introduction and some black history.
Next, a group of Chamberlain dancers performed a number to “Glory” by John Legend and Common. It is a powerful song. Then, Chamberlain singers performed “When we were Kings” by Brian Mcknight and Diana Kings. A highlight that followed was when eighth grader, Candace Spruill sang, “I Rise Up”.
Throughout the performance, announcers continued to share background information about the honored writers, artists, and musicians as the dancers performed a dance to “Uptown Funk”.
Ms. Patina’s dance group followed and performed a dance to a poem written by Maya Angelou. After they danced to the poem, the dancers came back and danced to “24k” by Bruno Mars.
Next, we enjoyed hearing a Spanish song that Mrs. Haskin’s group of fourth grade students sang in Espanol.
“Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson, was sung by Tange Mills, Aniyah Thomas and Candace Spruill.
At the end of the program, the students sang a song by Earth, Wind, and Fire to conclude the evening. Everyone in the audience joined in and started to dance.
Kyla Smith, Tange Mils, Janiyah Fluitt, Iyana Nickens, and A’liya Titus are sixth grade scholars at Friendship Chamberlain Academy.
