He’s All That Was Not All That

On August 25, 2021, Netflix dropped a new reboot for She’s All That. The movie stars actors Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan and runs for one hour and thirty-one minutes. It’s a TV14 Rom-Com that takes place in a modern day setting.

This has gotta be the cringiest movie I have ever watched. It received a low rating on rotten tomatoes. The actors have no chemistry and the story itself is not relatable. WARNING spoiler ahead!!!!!! It’s about an influencer named Padgett who is famous for makeovers and beauty content. One day Padgett decides to surprise her boyfriend Jordan who is (not to anyone's surprise) a privileged white boy who mooches off black culture. For real, he is a so-called rapper (he's some trash) but anyways Padgett visited him on set and decided to go on live (like an idiot) when she found out he was cheating on her with his backup dancer. She went crazy and started to throw delicious/dry pastries at him that she bought for him. Long story short, the live video went viral and she lost her sponsorships and followers (which makes no sense) and retained the nickname, “Bubble Girl”, because…and get this, she had a snot bubble while on live due to crying because she got cheated on. Anyways she goes to school the next day and claims that without her he would be nothing. This leads her one friend to make a bet with her. The bet was basically that she turns a lame person popular. So she picks this boy named Cameron who likes horses and dislikes anything popular and trendy. She starts being friends with him and gives him the traditional movie makeover. They went to parties together and Cameron starts to fall for Padgett with all her imperfections while she tries to fix his imperfections. Then Padgett starts falling for Cameron and asks him to the dance. But Padgett’s friend tells Cameron that he was basically a bet to see if she could make him popular. He got mad and stormed off. He cuts all ties with her and basically distances himself. When the dance comes around, they have a cringey dance battle. At the end Cameron shows up and gives her that kiss we all been waiting for.

Now that you know the movie, it’s time to review it. I give it a two out of five for the acting, a one out of five for the plot, and one out of five for the heavy advertising. I feel like the better actors were pushed to the background.  As for the acting, Addison Rae is new to acting, so hopefully she gets better. But as for Tanner Buchanan, I was disappointed. In total, the movie was a three out of ten. This movie was terrible and I know Netflix can do better.
