MAR 21, 2022: Playoffs are over, which means it is officially the end of the Lady Knights Basketball season. This was another season to remember for our Lady Knights. The start of the season was really rough. The Lady Knights started with a losing record, 0-4. The team and coaches knew that this wasn’t a good sign. In a sit down with the girls Coach Stef said, “Listen, the only thing that changes in this game is the people you play. The better we play and blow teams out, the more teams will fear to play us, so can we blow this team out and do what we need to do?”.

After that sit down and talk about how to help the Lady Knights get back to winning and ending the season with a real good winning streak going into these playoffs, the ladies upped their skills and went all the way to the end to win another championship to cap an up-down season this year.

The first game of the playoffs was against Tech Prep. The Lady Knights won before the game even started. Final score at the end was a 60-4 win which put them on their way to another championship. The championship was at UDC, (University of District of Columbia) with the Lady Knights vs. Kipp DC. At the tipoff, the Lady Knights held a lead over Kipp and by halftime still had the lead. At the final buzzer, the final score was 63-28 with the Lady Knights becoming champions once more.

The championship game was full of energy from start to finish. Multiple plays were made during the game that led to the victory over Kipp DC such as the fastbreak full court pass by Jhkya Jordan to Jenesis for a score, Kenize Thomas hitting shots from downtown, Elena Thomas assisting teammates and scoring, Madison Byrd blocking shots, and many more plays important to this championship victory. At the end though, the goal for the Lady Knights was to win a championship and they achieved that goal. Congratulations to our Lady Knights-adding another championship to Friendship’s legacy.
