In Loving Memory:Zachary Wimmer
News Brief and Photo by Amani Parker
On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, Mr. Zachary Wimmer FCA’s upper school social studies teacher passed away. Students and staff were both affected by this sudden news. Mr. Wimmer will forever be in our memory and will always be missed here at Friendship. Mr. Wimmer was a cheerful soul, always making it known that anybody can come to him if they need anything.
Everybody who came in contact with Mr. Wimmer would say they had a positive interaction. Mr. Wimmer was always the first person I talked to when I walked in the school building and the last person I talked to when I left. We communicated about everything no matter what it was. I took Mr. Wimmer’s U.S History Class for 5th block and his class was always my favorite. Mr. Wimmer was FCA students’ favorite teacher. He played more than the teacher role in some student’s lives. He was a role model to many as well as an uncle, father, or even a brother.
I will forever remember Mr.Wimmer and forever carry his name in my heart. Mr. Wimmer will forever be missed and Friendship will forever carry his legacy. Friendship Family condolences go out to Mr.Wimmer’s family and friends. Ms. Merritt Collegiate’s FNN teacher and coordinator stated, “Mr. Wimmer was a beloved teacher who was respected by his colleagues and admired by his students. He was involved in almost every senior activity and was really invested in our school culture. I am absolutely at a loss for words by his passing and I pray for his family”.
The memorial for Mr. Wimmer will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Friendship Collegiate’s Auditorium at 3:45 pm. From now on, Mr. Wimmer will be teaching Social Studies in heaven.
