In 1996 on Weekly Shonen Jump, a famous Japanese magazine known for publishing manga such as Dragon Ball, One Piece and Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh! was a horror manga.

It was an instant hit. Prices went through the roof and Kazuo Takahashi released the animated version on April 18, 2000, which gained a bunch of popularity.” The trading card game was launched by Konami in 1999 in Japan and March 2002 in North America. It was named the top selling trading card game in the world by Guinness World Records on July 7, 2009, having sold over 22 billion cards worldwide.

Despite the initial success, the show ended September 29, 2004 and then card prices started to decline. Yu-Gi-Oh! is now facing financial losses and a decline in popularity due to overproduction, low value card sets, and a lack of enjoyment for collectors and players.

In conclusion, Yu-Gi-Oh! Is still an all-time top publishing manga of all times and kids today still duel amongst each other even though the decline of the cards dropped the rating down. There are still 35 billion cards worldwide with people who buy them daily. The show and the cards matter a lot. It was the start of a New Era of Card duels.
