Old or New, Space Jam Remains True

The original and beloved Space Jam came out on November 15, 1996 and starred Michael Jordan, an important athlete and figure that inspired people, especially children, to work hard in order to be successful in life. Jordan was one of the first basketball players to have a shoe brand, and he was a very popular trailblazer at the time. He was a four-time gold medalist with USA Basketball, who won two Olympic golds and was twice named the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.

When it came time for Jordan to retire, the basketball stage was open for a new star and icon.  Who better to fill these shoes but Lebron James? James was one of the first players in the NBA to come back from a 3-1 loss in the playoffs, and his career high wins are astonishing. Critics say they never saw Michael Jordan do anything like that. It was only right that James became the star of Space Jam: A New Legacy. His take on the classic movie changed the community for the better, as youth needed a new star to be empowered by.

Space Jam: A New Legacy was released on July 16, 2021 with one of the best basketball players in the world as its star. The goal of the new Space Jam was for it to be as beloved and recognized as the classic, but for the new generation of basketball fans. Even though Michael Jordan will forever be an iconic and trailblazing player, Lebron James is this generation's new hero. 

Kids will watch both Space Jams with their families and friends for years to come. We think everyone should watch the old, and especially the new, Space Jam!
