The Great Sounds of the Youth Vocal Music Festival

MAR. 24, 2021: Although we still have to go through social distancing during this time, that didn't stop the Friendship Youth Vocal Music Festival. On February 20, Friendship Public Charter Schools Art Department hosted the virtual music festival called “Voices Through Friendship!” when twelve schools from the DMV area remotely showcased their vocal and artistic talents.
In the beginning, Friendship PCS Woodridge’s “The Eaglets,” sang the sweetest song called "Winter Again", showing off their energy and enthusiasm throughout the song.
Next, the feeling of inspiration and gratitude took effect when Friendship Armstrong and the Washington Youth Choir sang one of the most inspiring songs that I ever heard. Then Friendship Collegiate sang one of the first songs from the popular musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
What was most impressive during the Festival were the elegant voices of each and every soloist.; the Tech Prep choir's dance to “Freedom” by Sarafina and all the kids who performed for the Black Lives Matter Movement!
Congratulations to all the scholars who were able to show off their talents throughout the music festival. Thank you to all the celebrities: Verdine White, Ne-Yo, and Wanya Morris for appearing and encouraging all the festival participants. Remember scholars, the world needs your wonderful talents in music. Even though the world is changing, never give up and keep doing what you’re proud of. If you missed the concert, click here.
