The Lifestyle of A Student In the Academy of Engineering

MAR. 27, 2019: At Friendship Technology Preparatory Academy we have three academies that high school students can attend throughout their four years of school. Of course when you are a ninth grader you are in the Freshmen Academy and once you are a tenth grader until your senior year you can either be a part of the Academy of Engineering or the Academy of Urban Ecology. So, what do we do in the Academy of Engineering and how can that contribute to your personal life?

The Friendship Tech Prep Academy of Engineering is about young engineers building things and working together to problem-solve. This academy is very interesting because the academy teachers show us opportunities that can offer us a better life in the future. Some of the opportunities that we can get are internships, field trips to different engineering companies, and networking with professionals.  For instance, each Friday we have accountability talks about opportunities and upcoming events.

One of the benefits of being in Academy of Engineering is having a group of friends who are classmates to lean on when times are hard. You can ask the upperclassman things that they did last year and then you can compare your experience with their experience.

In my opinion, I think that there should be more field experiences so the students who attend this school can see the real world and how technology is a part of our everyday life. I think that we should have more meetings so everyone can meet each other because that might lead to a best friend.

In conclusion, if your school has the same academies as my school then I think that you should take the opportunity to come out of your comfort zone to try new things. This can lead to an opportunity for an internship in the summer or even an internship that deals with your dream job. This can also help you think of what you want to be in the future if you don't know yet. When you are in 9th grade you should pick the right academy for you and not the same thing as your friend. I believe the Academy of Engineering can help you in different ways inside and outside of school.
