The School Nurse

Story and photo by Zakiah Perry.

The school nurse's job is to help kids in need at FPCS. At school, when kids are injured or sick, the only thing they receive is an ice pack. Ice packs do not always help with every type of situation a student might be facing when at the nurse.

Sometimes, the school nurse does not show up to Southeast. This isn’t ideal, because in case of a serious emergency, there will be no one to provide children with any type of service or help. This is why we need a school nurse here every day, and ideally, more than one.

The school nurse has just not been giving the students the services they deserve to receive. I believe the school nurse needs to do better. Some of my classmates have really bad allergies and asthma. One of my classmates has to wear a heart monitor and faints when they are dizzy. Ice can’t help that.

In conclusion, FPCS Southeast needs a nurse who’s all in, all the time!
