There’s a Wordle in the Classroom!

What is Wordle, and how can it relate to classrooms? Well, Wordle is a fun game where you need to find out the word of the day in only 6 tries. Hard, right? Well that’s not what we’re talking about today. I’m talking about how this game may help students in classrooms around the world.

To start, Wordle isn’t just a fun game, it’s a fun educational game—it tests your knowledge on words. Its difficult and challenging aspects make it a fun game to play for all ages, and even if you don’t guess the word, you gain one for the future.

Here at Woodridge, we play Wordle during our Intervention block to wind down in preparation for our lesson. It’s fun, engaging, and educational, so there’s no reason other teachers and other schools shouldn’t use it. And, it’s a fun way to start or even end off class on a good note for students. This would also be a good way to expand the vocabulary of students. By playing the game and then searching the word's meaning, students learn the word and will be able to use it in the future (and maybe in other Wordles). I think Worlde should be used in classrooms. Would you want it in yours? If you want to try it out, then here’s your link to Wordle. Have fun and play hard!
