Woodridge Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With a Piñata Showcase!

Three weeks ago, Woodridge‘s wonderful Spanish teachers Señora Garzon and Ms. Vivar hosted a piñata showcase at the Woodridge library. Both elementary and middle school scholars created piñatas in their Spanish classes. Students made piñatas of some of their favorite TV show characters, foods, drinks, and representations of Spanish speaking countries and territories, such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. This event gave scholars the opportunity to express their personalities and celebrate a different culture.

At the showcase, Señora Garzon and Ms. Vivar handed out goodie bags, played music, and took pictures of all of the students with their creations. Students in Pre-K all the way to 8th grade attended the showcase and had an amazing time.

8th grade scholars Khloe Agyekum and Caelyn Eaves also assisted the Spanish teachers with hanging up piñatas, passing out candy, taking pictures, and playing music.

Thank you Ms. Vivar and Señora Garzon for helping the scholars at Woodridge grow, have fun, and discover new things!
