Woodridge Checks Out Alexander’s Terrible and Horrible Bad Day

MARCH 6, 2018: On Wednesday, February 28, 2018, the 2nd through 4th grades took a field trip to see the play Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day at Adventure Musical Theater in Rockville, Maryland. It is a short 45-minute play about a boy who has a horrible day. His day starts out with him having gum in his hair.

Then, after waking up and getting out of bed, Alexander slips on a truck and falls down on a skateboard. This all takes place within minutes of the opening of the show.

The show was funny and very entertaining. There were tons of singing and dancing. The play had cute puppet animals made of some kind of wooden material and the stage was decorated like a boy’s bedroom. Alexander’s entire day was bad from beginning to end. To top it off his best friend decides he doesn’t want to be friends anymore.

All of these crazy things happen in a day leaving Alexander feeling sad. Towards the end of the play, Alexander's mom sings him a lullaby and lets him know that everything will be better tomorrow. This play teaches an important lesson that everyone has a bad day every once in a while. It is important to start brand new the next day and not let your day get you down.
