Interview by Marie Owens and Christian Outten

NOV. 26, 2019: Have you ever met an adult book worm? If not, then Friendship Woodridge has the ultimate book worm! Her name is Ms. Whitfield and she is our librarian. She’s probably read almost EVERY BOOK in EVERY GENRE! We decided to interview her to show how much she is appreciated.

Do you want to go back to college and study more about books and why?

Ms. Whitfield: Yes, because I feel you can never know too much about books.

Did you originally want to be a librarian?

All my life!

Why?

I’ve always loved to read and the library is my favorite place.

If you weren’t a librarian what else would you desire to be?

I’d be a lawyer. Lawyers use the law library a lot, and they help people.

Did anyone inspire you to become a librarian?

Yes, in 2016 President Obama named the first black female Librarian of Congress, she runs the largest library in the world. Her name is Dr. Carla Hayden and I want to be just like her.

What is your favorite book?

Too many to name, I have a favorite book in every genre.

Do you appreciate your librarian? Librarians are the most important people in a school building. Why you ask? Because they support everyone with book fairs and create a love for reading in all students. They help do a lot. If you’re interested in a book, you can always ask your librarian. Thank you, Ms. Whitfield, for all you do!

Marie Owens and Christian Outten are 5th grade scholars at Friendship Woodridge International School.
