A Story a Day Keeps The Bad Grades Away

Have you ever had a bedtime story read to you? Many people remember when their mom and dad read them a bedtime story to help them fall asleep. Some kids, however, don’t get to hear bedtime stories.
Second-grade teacher Kiesha Yearby of Chesapeake, Virginia is trying to change that. On Tuesday nights she read a bedtime story on Facebook Live for children to view. She calls it “Ms. Yearby’s Reading Adventures.”
It started for her own students. Now she has viewers in California, Florida and South Carolina. This isn’t just fun for her students, it also helps them academically. Studies have shown that reading aloud to a child can improve their literacy skills as they begin to read.
I think this is important because all kids need to be read a bedtime story. Now, every kid can have the same wonderful experience and watch their grades go up too.
