OCT. 16, 2019: Once again another retail store is closing its doors. Why? It probably has a lot to do with all of the online shopping and new clothing stores popping up everywhere digitally.
Nowadays it’s all about convenience. Who wants to get their kids in a car, drive all the way to the store and walk around, just to not see anything worth buying? That is a total waste of time if you ask me.
I know so many teenage girls are probably really mad about this tragic news. The problem is, people aren’t interested in poor quality clothing anymore. With stores like Zara and H&M who make clothes that are affordable with cheap prices just like Forever 21, the difference is Zara’s quality—the materials are much much better.
Forever 21 just can’t keep up. The company is losing so much money.
Forever 21, originally called Fashion 21, started in 1984 in Los Angeles, California. The company catered to young teenagers ages fifteen to twenty-one years old. However, the company expanded out to young savvy adults too.
According to CNBC, the company announced that they were going to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company reportedly received $275 million in financing from its current lenders with JPMorgan Chase and $75 million in new capital from TPG Sixth Street Partners.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Forever 21’s valued customers will remember their favorite store forever.
