Ms. Buch’s Drama Class Watches The Color Purple

On Wednesday, October 5th, 2022, Ms.Buch’s drama class watched The Color Purple at the Signature Theater. Based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel, The Color Purple tells the story of Celie, an African American teenager raised in rural isolation in Georgia as she struggles for empowerment. The novel won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the National Book Award for Fiction. It was then adapted into a film and musical.
Actresses Nova Payton and Gabriella Rice did an Incredible job playing Ms. Celie and Miss Sofia. The drama students thoroughly enjoyed the musical. Student Ariel Warn said of the play, “It was heartwarming. I will watch it again because it was amazing.” ”Miracle Hill believes the play is about, “something everyone is going through in life, and they can learn from it.”
