Woodridge Dance Team Won Again

On Saturday, February 4th, 2017, the Dancing Eagles competed in the Cheer Starz Dance Competition. The dance competition was held at Ballou High School. There were approximately 11 girls who danced to a total of 8 songs. The dancers came in first place once again in the overall competition based on moves, style, and uniforms. This makes the “Dancing Eagles” fifth first place winners. The dance team is under the leadership of Mrs. Robin and Sabrina Wilford. They both work hard after school each day to help the girls with their dance routines.

During the competition, jaws in the room dropped the moment Mrs. Wilford pressed play for the music. The team’s hard work could not go unnoticed. Every move was performed in total unison. Every jump was sky-high. The entire routine was performed at hyper-speed. The power that each dancer drove into every move was nothing they had ever done before in a competition. “Rehearsing three dances every day for months can seem tiresome, but in the end, it is worth it because dancing is so much fun!” says 4th grader Zoe Butler.  This is Zoe’s first year on the team and her first time competing ever in a major competition. “I was so nervous and shaky at first. I was also scared because I thought I was going to mess up, but I could hear my parents there cheering for me. When I heard our school’s name being announced as the first place winner, I just jumped up and screamed!”

The dancers brought back a huge trophy that shows first-hand that hard work does pay off in the end.
