Our former FNN reporter is all grown up and making big things happen. Xavier has dreams of gracing the stage and having her own dance studio. In the meantime, she has been marching for change....

Being a Posse Scholar is a major achievement. I had the pleasure to talk with three. Two alumni and one high school senior. Benjamin is majoring in International Affairs at Lafayette College. Once he graduates, he’s going into the Marines and travel the world to help those in need.

As you often hear on the news, most of the third world countries, especially in Africa, are dying from preventable and curable diseases.

Even though Darrell and Devante have different professions, there is one thing in common. They feel the need to give back to their community. Besides coming back for FCA’s 3rd Annual Alumni Day, Devante loves to work with students and shows them no matter how bad your situation is, you can overcome it to reach your goals.

Honesty seems to be a rare trait for a politician. That’s something Khalil will changed once he’s in office.

In a time where jobs are limited for new college graduates, Rickia figured she can hire herself. 

A year away from getting his degree, Jovan is thinking of giving back. As soon as he graduates, he is going to be helping shape young minds.  He has five teaching job offers and he’s only a junior at Virginia State University. 

Time seems to be moving faster than expected.  Was it really that long ago, since Ceyanne was in middle school? Now, she’s currently studying philosophy, studio art and Asian Studies at Hanover College.

I can’t help but smile when I see a fellow alum progressing so well at one the of the most famous HBCUs, Howard University.  It seems like just yesterday she was one of the middle school students writing fiction for Rated-T. Nadean is currently studying to be an chemical engineer. She is planning to pursue a career in biopharmaceuticals. 

Fresh out of Friendship Collegiate Academy, Ja-len returned to Alumni Day to share his first semester experience with current students.

 I’ve known Marcus and his family ever since we were at Benning Elementary School. It warms my heart to see how much he has grown over the years. Marcus thrived as part of FCA’s Robotics Team. After high school, he went to Northern Virginia Community College for a year and completed the Year-Up program. Marcus’s career is starting to blast off.

Reishad Jessup is the ideal role model for all the young men at Friendship Collegiate Academy.  He was in almost all school clubs, football player, class president and the list goes on. With all this on his plate, he still managed to win the Achievers and Posse Scholarship, as well as rank number three in his class. 

Another FNN alumni is working her way to the top. Quaniece has always wanted to bring awareness to important issues. Whether it is cyberbullying  or the dangers of the NFL, Quaniece will do whatever she can to help. Quaniece wants to help retired NFL players who suffer from Alzheimer's disease and other neurological conditions.

Everyone should be on the look out for Ms. Keosha Quigley. The FNN alumni reporter is blossoming into a professional journalist. She is currently studying communication and journalism at George Mason University. Keosha aspires to work for Ebony, Essence, and Jet.  She wants to ensure that African Americans have a voice in the media.

Maya Foster is one of the most hard working people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. While balancing academics and motherhood, Maya graduated from Friendship Collegiate Academy with a 3.6 GPA . She graduated with honors with a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina in 2012.
