Woodridge has a new JA Academy director in town. Say hello to Mr. Gilchrist, or Mr. G for short. Today I will be interviewing him to see how he feels about Woodridge. But first, let’s see how students feel about him!

The Planet Word is a museum about the history of words. It is located at 13th and K Street, NW, Washington DC. The Planet Word museum was very inspiring to me as a young writer. First the building itself was gorgeous.

Everyone who’s been going to school recently knows that we have to follow Covid protocols in order to actually stay in school and not get the COVID-19 virus. For instance, before schools were getting deep cleaned, we had to stay online for school.

Friendship Collegiate Academy’s Lady Knights Varsity Volleyball Team went up against KIPP CP in an intense game. The game was interesting because both teams had the same colors and were equally eager to win.

The staff and students of Friendship Collegiate Academy showed off their school spirit as they rocked their college apparel. From Howard to owie State, Collegiate showed off its University pride.

Ever since the pandemic hit, everyone across the world has had to make daily life changes—whether it be wearing a mask, staying inside more often, or even greatly distancing themselves from friends and family. This came with its benefits but it also came with a lot of negative physical and mental consequences for everyone including teenagers and children.

This pandemic has caused us to do some abnormal things to stay safe, social distancing being one. Having social interaction is very important in human life, so how are we supposed to just distance ourselves from our friends in what seems like a blink of an eye?

Most studies show that black people are just naturally stronger and faster in sports. People like Kevin Durant, Isaiah Thomas, Buda Baker, Kyler Murray, and Tyrann Mathieu are elite athletes who are crushing in their respective sports and they’re all under six feet except for Kevin Durant.

As a tribute to the late Jaquar McNair, the students and staff held a “balloon pop” outside of the school. For those unfamiliar with the term ”balloon pop”, since we weren’t allowed to release the balloons, we had to pop them.

R. Kelly is a black American singer who is known for his songs, “I Believe I Can Fly'' and “Same Girl”. He is also known for sexually exploiting minors. R. Kelly was arrested on July 11, 2019 for sex crimes, human trafficking, and child pornography. He faced 22 federal criminal charges on January 29, 2021.

As everyone knows, Tiktok is a social media app where people dance and sing. You can send funny videos to your friends and family. You can scroll on your “For You Page“ (FYP) to see videos just for you. In my opinion, Tiktok is an amazing app because it helps teens in many ways.

FCA’s Cross Country team had it’s second meet. The same schools showed up from the last meet, but there were about 10-15 people fewer. This time we saw people going through pain, including ourselves.

Coach Antonino Crews died on October 21, 2021. Coach Crews was loved by everyone at Friendship and will always be remembered as LLCoach Crews. He has been a classroom aide at Tech Prep since 2016 and was a coach for FCA’s junior varsity football team.

Chastity Agbaje had a chance to harvest her own vegetables at the Friendship Collegiate Academy Garden.

FCA’s varsity cross country team had its first meet against a plethora of schools like Washington Latin, DCSI, Kipp DC, Friendship Tech Prep (our sister school) and multiple other schools at the Kenilworth Track.

Students came out to check the vegetables for harvesting and were able to experience harvesting vegetables with sheers.

The JV Knights faced off against the DeMatha Stags on the Donald L. Hence Field. After an emotional memorial service for Coach Crews, the teams went head to head.
