The problem is toxic masculinity which is, “the act of a male presenting toxic behaviors to others.” It is very damaging to everyone in the situation. It is still prominent in households, families, and even in society. Today men account for 80% of arrests for violent crime, 98.9% of arrests for forcible rape, 97% of all mass shootings, and a 3.5x higher suicide rate than women. Over one million people reportedly have fled Ukraine due to the Russian invasion, displacing them from their homes and causing them to become refugees. Officers Gone Bad

This is the story about Edward Bronstein who was pulled over by police in Burbank,California, March 31, 2020. The officers thought he was driving under the influence of a narcotic. They ended up pulling him over to draw blood. The autopsy report states when Edward asked them why they needed a sample, he was abused by officers and one knelt on his back Bronstein yelled, “I can’t breathe.”

The Stings of Toxic Masculinity

We’ve heard common phrases from a man when he looks upset. Some men would say “Man up!” or “Guys can’t cry,'' so as not to show their emotions and deem themselves as ''weak”. Some would treat men who show femininity and who are LGBTQ+ as “not manly”. According to the American Psychological Association, there have been reports of young men taking masculinity way too far when they become misogynistic to both men and women.
